Game Summary: The Games is a panfandom version of the Hunger Games. In this game, tributes are no longer children from the districts, but various people hailing from different worlds. They are forced to fight to the death in large arenas as a Never Ending Quell and between arenas, they are alternately left to their own devices or forced to put on a show and smiling face for the population of Panem. Because they come back from death after each arena, they are seen more as soap operas than even normal games and much attention is paid to their relationships and dramas (manufactured or not). There is occasionally chances given to play a part in the rebellion of the citizens against the Capitol or to play up to the Capitol. Rebellion became a greater and greater part of the game, with some offworlders moving to District 13 between arenas where they worked for the rebels.

Later in the game, the arenas were stopped when war became an inevitablity and battles began in the districts, in which the offworlders and native world characters are traded back and forth between sides and occasionally brainwashed and imprisioned. The battles culminated in a final battle in the Capitol.
How long was your character in Game: A little over a year
History of Character in their Game:

-Meulin arrived in the Capitol and promptly introduced herself as the future romance gossip columnist for the Capitol magazine, Celebrus. This brought a flood of less than happy tributes and mentors and a slightly awkward reunion with her childhood friend/crush Kurloz. She meets up with Terezi and Kurloz in Tribute Tower and learns a little more about trolls and Kurloz does the slightly rebel thing and sneaks her up to District Four's floor. The moment is ruined by a close call with a peacekeeper that leaves things a little fractured.

-Around the same time, right before the next arena, Meulin meets Sigma, an offworlder gamemaker (he makes cat puns, her opinon of him goes up a little) and meets Derek and Chuck again on the network who are childhood friends that are mentors for District Four.

-Blind dates happen and Meu is shoved into it by her aunt and meets up with Terezi partway through to arrange a new meetup for lunch. (Meu trusts Terezi less after she became a Junior Peacekeeper type and made propo poster but the meetup goes cute anyways) and then a games watching party comes up later on. She meets up with Kurloz and they dance in a way that totally doesn't say I have been kind of hung up on you for ten years (u dumb fucks). She also meets Harley which is a good time if incredibly confusing. Mostly bc Harley doesn't get that she's deaf for AGES.

-Meu takes Terezi on that friend date. They go for fish in a fish tank. It goes poorly but they bond through shared anxiety. Terezi reveals why she's so anxious and Meu helps her calm down. Like many ridiculous things for the two, it's a Moment.

-Crowning of Tom Cassidy leads to Meulin talking to Aang, a tribute of District Four (spoiler, he's gonna cause a ruckus later), Felicity, a Capitolite fan of the games and fellow shipper and China, an escort who offers her an in into her secret library & Terezi gets a sense of Meulin's fear of peacekeepers when an execution gives way to panic with fallen peacekeeper and Meulin is Upset. Terezi traces a clover on her hand and promises to keep her safe. (this is where clover happens. v important for later things)

-Once upon a Dream event (starts normal and fine and eventually gets twisted into nightmares. Awful events are relived)
--Meulin finally learns that Kurloz stitched his lips shut because he said something that made his Peackeeper father beat her near to death. This does take place during the act of his stitching and he isn't kind about it. He slams her against a wall and writes in blood what happened, which understandable, freaks Meulin the hell out. But she does reach out for him and he holds her but nothing is really resolved. She still doesn't agree that it's his fault.
--This event includes a great deal of trauma for Meulin as she undergoes that beating, which sometimes results in her deafening and other times people save her from that ending. Terezi is one of those people who saves her and she learns the real reason Meulin is so freaked out by peacekeepers. It includes a great deal of tears and vague references to her rebelliousness.

-Terezi catches Meulin in an alleyway talking to a fellow rebel and they realize they're on the same side despite everything they both do to fit in. (another Moment)

-A special mini arena starts that includes previous victors (ie mentors). Her old friends Chuck and Derek are among the reaped.

-Meu goes on a not date but totes date with Kurloz during the mini arena. They somehow decide to be themselves and not let the trauma of the dreams and their past get them down and they have a good time. (this is because they just don't talk about it. Like mature people. Like very mature people who are awful at dealing with anything)
They kiss.

- Anna of Arendelle (yay D4!)/Philip Gray/Peggy Carter win the mini arena and have simultaneous crownings. Meu meets Phillip Gray there and they talk about his weird weird Freddy's theme alley. Terezi doesn't come back from her death which leads Meulin to get a clover tattoo in rememberance. Meu also has a small panic attack and cries over her friends dying in the arena. As it turns out, they were saved just before their deaths but Meulin didn't know taht until later. She's grateful. She expresses that by writing a heartfelt plea in Celebrus for them to just fucking kiss already omg just do it.
Do it. It's been years.

-Derek gets upset at her for it but when she reveals her love life is also in a weird maybe sort of state, they make a pact to get over themselves and figure their love lives out. Chuck just kind of tells her to stop pls and Meu makes a face of 'its ok i worked it out fur real' and he doesn't believe her.
They totes bang

-Meulin gets access to secret rebel network and finds out Terezi is alive in District 13! Also Initiate is alive, thats a thing. (Her love life is frowned upon by a very pale Terezi. Meu continues to have poor judgement)

-The Capitol does an old style of games parade and interview with all the Tributes on stage. This culminates in a presentation from Aang where the names of all the children who have died in the original games were written on their bodies in glowing paint. This is seen as rebellious act. Because it was.

-The Capitol decides that the next arena will have a special component as well, the inclusion of two children from each District (taken from those who had been penpals to Tributes via an IC 'school' for underage Tributes) and since District 3 had been blown up previously, Due to the rebellious act from the youth, which the stylists are seen as complicit in, two Capitol children are reaped from the families of the Stylists.

-Kurloz doesn't take it well. At all. He freaks out on Aang and is stopped by Derek who takes him to Meulin to try to take care of him.

-His little brother Azhira isn't reaped but he's still shaken. Thusly, he is kind of cruel to Meu when she tries to justify what Aang did. Like saying his father was only doing his job (when he beat her is implied). Then he says he loves her. Such is meu's life. She's too codependent to see all the thousands of red flags waving her. She says she loves him too and he extracts a promise that she'll stay beside him. (which he cashes in later to disastrous effects ) Makaras certainly do have a thing about people leaving them.

-She meets Phi, a new D4 tribute who arrives just before the games and meets up with one of the Districter kids who was reaped, Mollusc. She gives him her pearl for good luck as his token and wishes him the best. She also proves she's been around her friends too much when she tells him to do whatever he has to do to survive. She still considers it solid advice. The offworlders can come back, he can't.

-'D4 House' ie Meulin, Kurloz and the mentors of District Four (Chuck, Derek and Anna) move in together after they decide that distancing themselves from their tributes and their mistakes is the best way to appear to the Capitol. Meulin is invited along because she's family. (good pack best friends) (best codependent awful for each other group of friends ever) Over the course of their living together, the group gets closer and really develops that intense family vibe that they carry through the rest of the game. She bonds with Derek about their more experienced partners and start a sex book club.

-Bumps into PG at a coffee shop and hangs out with him for a while, asking about his relationship with Jeremy (not romantic. yet.) and he asks about her own relationships. She only says she loves someone but it makes her happy when he says he can see how happy she is

-Meulin makes the mistake of walking in on Kurloz praying and being a little too honest about herself and her passions when she encourages him to do the right thing (in her mind pray and fuck the Capitol. In his mind, stop praying bc Capitol is all that is good). He sees the hints of rebellion. He notes that. (see cashing in on promises later)

-Phi comes over for post murderparty party and they all welcome her easily. Her sass seems to fit in and she even takes a picture with them all, sending the photo to Gamemaker Sigma. Shenanigans happen with Sigma where he shows up and inserts himself into the party with the hopes of extracting Phi from their awful influence (Let Phi drink!) D4 proves to be a ridiculously overprotective unit (warning: This will come up again later) and offer to let her stay with them but she decides to leave with Sigma. But not before giving him a tongue lashing over the things he said about them all. Meu is confused. Derek is impressed. Kurloz is made to laugh. Aloud.

-Kurloz does what he does best about that whole hints of rebellion thing and overreacts. The promise is cashed in and he coaxes Meulin to see his friend and uses her trust in him against her, despite her misgivings. Meu gets brainwashed to Pro Capitol. That's a thing. That happened. Happened right there it did.

-The last arena ends, which included a rescue mission for some of the District kids, including Mollusc, who are taken to a safe location. A rather uneventful crowning happens, where Meulin meets Luna and talks with China and Felicity again. Ellis, a tribute of D4, teaches her a little about sword fighting and China attempts the same but results are mixed.

-They decide to do a big post arena run of Panem on a train like the good old days, continuing their theme of lets make everything like the past, weren't those arenas great. it ends badly when rebels attack the train and make off with several of the tributes. Meu finds out when her provocative texting with kurloz is interrupted. Also she names all the bettas in their apartment.

-It is after this that the war starts.

-After the battle in District 12, Terezi is revived in the Capitol and Meulin goes to the Detention Center (previously tribute tower) and tries to convince Terezi to come to the dark side. It doesn't work and all that is accomplished is that Terezi figures out something has happened to Meulin that's suspiciously like how Kurloz acts. (ie, brainwashing)

-Meulin sees her family/pack getting hurt again and again and after she visits Derek in the hospital and foists a stuffed wolf upon him, she decides that she can't be the only one doing nothing. She decides to become a war journalist for the capitol.

-On her first outitng, she meets Initiate in d7 and he does the beautiful thing of trying to put his whole mental health on her shoulders by hoping she'll encourage him in some way. Mostly because the Disciple was a rebel and she's the Disciple's copy/in universe analogue/whatever. This ends poorly when he tells her to stab him if she's really not like the pacifist troll at all. She stabs him. With her pen. Because brainwashing. (It's a meaningful stab really)

-She does a propoganda film for the Capitol in which she talks about hope and her belief in a better world. It goes over v. well. Meu meets Sam Wilson in D1 and does some lowkey shipping of him and Clint. And everyone. Be poly for her Sam, she needs it. He promises to teach her sign language

-Meu gives Kurloz a great birthday gift by showing him some of the beauty in his own world and also gives him a necklace adorned with a peal carved into a skull. It's very them. Pearls are their thing.

-In D9, She gets kidnapped slash rescued from a huge fire. She's not particularly thrilled when the rescue ends up with her on the rebel's side and she ends up in prison with lungs full of smoke and a worried family/pack left behind. She doesn't know until later how intensely this tore her pack apart, with Derek searching madly for her until he had to be sedated in order to leave the battlefield and Kurloz having a breakdown and joining the Peacekeepers.

-Terezi and Initiate try to get through the brainwashings with little success. Terezi only confuses her and sends her into a panic attack when trying to get Meulin to go back to normal. Meulin's trust in her is pretty shattered when she reveals she won't let Meulin leave. Initiate has slightly more success but only in finding out what happened to her to make her deaf. Little bonding happens at this point. But they do make semi regular visits with her.

-Later Terezi brings by a Capitol bird that belonged to Sam and promises to teach her signs and offers to scry for Kurloz. Meulin only wants him safe. Terezi says she'll try her hardest as long as Meulin promises to try to beat her conditioning and trust her. It's at this point that Meulin decides to at least try to trust her friend again. She's not got a lot of options either way so she says she will try.

-Initiate sort of breaks into her cell and settles in to teach her to sign. She's super hesitant but she has said she'll try and to be honest, she really wants to learn more signs. He ropes her in with telling her that she created signing, in another life, he lets her create her own sign and they have a connection with their love of the sea. It's a Moment.

-Meulin eventually gets to move out of the prison. She also learns that the shit went down in d3 involved some scientists being rescued. It does lead to a vague breakthrough where she rememebers/realizes that people that the Capitol takes notice of might need some protection.

-D13 lies about Chuck selling out the district kids to the Capitol, which was an exchange that was proposed to D13 and summarily rejected by the group. They also accuse him of having information about Snow's ability to be revived . Meulin protests that Chuck cares way too much about the children of the Districts to ever do that. Coin brushes her off hardcore

-D4 battle; Everything happens so much.
--Meulin talks to Chuck about what happened to her and finally tells him that she was a rebel and that Kurloz took her and fixed her, took all that rebellion away. And that she doesn't fit anywhere anymore
--She finds Derek and sees how the Capitol has mutliated him, turned him into a half muttation with his eyes, claws, teeth and behavior. But he still recognizes her. He almost ends up just reinforcing her programming with his own, telling her that the Capitol is great, but she manages to see beyond it (mostly thanks to seeing how horribly they'd changed him) and tells him that he was perfect the way he was and the Capitol doesn't help them. (super breakthrough)
--Then Kurloz finds her and almost kills her before he realizes its her and she doesn't even run from him in his Peacekeeper uniform. They have a moment of hesitant reunion that quickly falls apart. He breaks down or maybe just finally shows her that breakdown and suggests they die together. She refuses, tells him they have so much to live for. He can't handle it, can't handle living, and tells her to leave. She won't, because they've never walked away from each other, people have always forced them apart. He runs. Into a mine. And almost dies. But Derek saves him at the last moment. He tells Derek to let him die but Derek refuses. In the end, he panics, Meulin soothes him and leads them both back to D13 with her.

-This leads to Meulin coming back to D13 in a mental, emotional and literal mess, covered in blood, soot, and sand and unsure of what to do with herself. Her programming still has some hold on her but her pack manages to get slotted in above it at least which is what holds her together. Terezi finds her like this and promises to help her get Kurloz back together. She's so pale it hurts.

-D13 has an internal rebellion that revolves around the offworlders and Capitolites, how they're blamed for the unrest in D13, the destruction of D3 and the way their arrival pulled the focus of the districts from the rebellion that Katniss had set alight. The offworlders had also discovered that Coin is plotting to kill them all before wars end. Riots ensue. Meu goes to save the prisoners from possible 'get rid of the source' and frees them all. She asks Derek not to kill anyone, which she doesn't realize is such a big deal for him, but it was, because everyone had only ever asked him to kill. Together with Porrim, they free all the prisoners and she gets her family somewhere safer. Important considering they're all tarred with the Capitolite brush. The riots settle when Coin is removed from command and Webb takes up her place.

-Meulin is in District 2 when they discover the revival mechanism. It's breaking down and sucking everyone into it and they end up having to form a human chain to allow the scientist to reach the button. It ends up literally uniting them all, hand in hand, human and troll, offworlder and native. It's very touching. A plus Furitz.

-In the end, Meulin goes along with the battle to the Capitol, taking Kurloz with her to find their siblings, though in the already won sectors of the Capitol. It's during this trek through the Capitol, with possible traps at every turn and possible capture or death on the line that Meulin is taken from.

How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?)

Meulin has changed a great deal and yet somehow come back around to a similar place. Her rebellious leanings that led her to come to the Capitol are entirely flipped halfway through her time in game but her core personality, smiling, laughing, friendly and wanting to do her best and help in what way she can were all still there, just turned to helping the Capitol. She turned her love of writing to war time journalism. She turned her love of her friends, family and District into a display for their propoganda. She spoke from her heart, even if the ideals within have changed. Even her tendency to shove things under the rug when they upset her personally is in full effect. When Terezi tries to explain how the Capitol hurts the Districts and will only make their lives worse, Meulin rejects it entirely, asserting that the Capitol just has to fix things and it has its reasons. It's a very Capitol thing to say but also very in line with her own way of seeing the best in people. The Capitol has its reasons and she's sure they're the very best reasons.

But one thing that has changed is her sense of trust. Meulin trusted easily. She gives her full trust to people she cares about, regardless of whether they've earned it or they're trustworthy themselves. Some people earned it and kept it, like Derek who trusts her with his secrets and does his best to her and her secrets safe. Others like Terezi earned it and then sort of fumbled it. Terezi made every attempt to keep her safe but went up against Meulin's changed allegiances and orchestrated a kidnapping/rescue of her during a battle. Meulin had trusted her, hoping she could change Terezi's mind and bring her to the Capitol's side after everything, because again, Meulin believes in people. But she realized Terezi had very likely dragged her from her family and friends because of something only Terezi had a problem with, she had a very hard time with that trust. She gave her a second chance in the end, but her relationship with Terezi only mended through time.

And then there's Kurloz. Meulin exists in two spaces with her trust in Kurloz. In one, she loves him, she'd do anything for him. Yet he hurt her. He went into her mind and changed who she was and changed what she believed in. He took the trust she had in him and used it, coaxing her along when she would have run and literally leading her to her doom. Terezi warned her that getting involed with him might be a bad idea but she placed more faith in her own intution than the outside observances of a friend.

And in the end, her brainwashed but very real trust in the Capitol was shattered when she saw how they had changed Derek. In the end, this all culminated in her having a wary relationship with trust. It's hard to say that she's less trusting, because her whole shtick is second chances, reaching out, forgiving people. But more than her experiences as a child, her experiences as an adult have taught her that she trusts blindly. What she might do with that information is still up for debate but it's reworked how she sees herself and how she sees others.

Given her last known attempts at dealing with it were to ignore the trust issues and focus on helping others, if that really changed her outward behavior is up for debate.

How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):

There's few physical changes from her pre-game self. The only obvious things are a tattoo of a clover on her right wrist and perhaps a handful of thin scars.

Powers: None

Possessions:
A full (within limits) wardrobe of Capitol clothing and a small collection of District clothing
One basic set of D13 clothing
A cork board painted with the ocean and covered in pictures/notes/articles

A whiteboard and several markers
A single betta with a namecard that says Stitches

Please provide three samples from your previous game, at least one will have to be third person with context:
